Online Worship for 25 July

This Sunday marks the lifting of legal restrictions that have impacted on our in-church worship. However, we will continue to offer online worship, albeit in a slightly slimmed down version in order to make this sustainable. This week the online service is led by Revd Charles Sargent.

The hymn ‘The Lord’s my shepherd’ is sung

Ye servants of God, your Master proclaim,
and publish abroad his wonderful name;
the name all-victorious of Jesus extol;
his kingdom is glorious and rules over all.

God ruleth on high, almighty to save;
though hid from our sight, his presence we have;
the great congregation his triumph shall sing,
ascribing salvation to Jesus our King.

Salvation to God, who sits on the throne!
let all cry aloud, and honour the Son;
the praises of Jesus the angels proclaim,
fall down on their faces and worship the Lamb.

Then let us adore and give him his right:
all glory and power, all wisdom and might,
all honour and blessing with angels above
and thanks never-ceasing, for infinite love.

This is the day that the Lord has made.
We will rejoice and be glad in it.

Let us pray:

Collect for Feast of St James
Merciful God,
whose holy apostle Saint James,
leaving his father and all that he had,
was obedient to the calling of your Son Jesus Christ
and followed him even to death:
help us, forsaking the false attractions of the world,
to be ready at all times to answer your call without delay;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever. Amen

As Jesus taught us, so we are bold to pray:

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come; thy will be done;
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
the power and the glory,
for ever and ever. Amen.

Blessing

The hymn ‘Give me joy in my heart’ is sung
This was recorded by members of the Windmill Benefice Choirs at an outdoor choir practice earlier this month

Give me joy in my heart, keep me praising,
Give me joy in my heart, I pray.
Give me joy in my heart, keep me praising,
keep me praising till the end of day.

Sing hosanna! Sing hosanna!
Sing hosanna to the King of kings!
Sing hosanna! Sing hosanna!
Sing hosanna to the King.

Give me love in my heart, keep me serving,
Give me love in my heart, I pray.
Give me love in my heart, keep me serving,
keep me serving till the end of day.

Sing hosanna . . .

Give me peace in my heart, keep me resting,
Give me peace in my heart, I pray.
Give me peace in my heart, keep me resting,
keep me resting till the end of day.

Sing hosanna . . .

Give me oil in my lamp, keep me burning,
Give me oil in my lamp, I pray.
Give me oil in my lamp, keep me burning,
keep me burning till the end of day.

Sing hosanna . . .
