Christ is our cornerstone; on Him alone we build;
With His true saints above the courts of heav’n are filled:
On His great love our hopes we place
Of present grace and joys above.

Oh, then, with hymns of praise these hallowed courts shall ring!
Our voices we will raise, the Three in One to sing;
And thus proclaim in joyful song,
Both loud and long, that glorious name.

Here, gracious God, do Thou, for evermore draw nigh;
Accept each faithful pray’r, and mark each suppliant sigh:
In copious showers, on all who pray,
Each holy day, your blessings pour.

Here may we gain from heav’n the grace which we implore,
And may that grace, once giv’n, be with us evermore.
Until that day when all the blest
To endless rest are called away.

John Chandler (1806-1876)
Tune: Harewood, S S Wesley (1810-1876)

This is the day that the Lord has made.
Let us rejoice and be glad in it.

Introduction

The Collect prayer for the Third Sunday of Epiphany

release to the captives,
and freedom to the oppressed:
anoint us with your Holy Spirit
and set all your people free
to praise you in Christ our Lord. Amen

Prayers

The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come;
thy will be done; on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
the power and the glory,
for ever and ever. Amen.

Blessing

Jesus is Lord! Creation’s voice proclaims it,
For by his pow’r each tree and flow’r was planned and made.
Jesus is Lord! The universe declares it;
Sun, moon and stars in heaven cry: Jesus is Lord!
Jesus is Lord! Jesus is Lord!
Praise Him with alleluias, for Jesus is Lord!

Jesus is Lord! Yet from his throne eternal
In flesh he came to die in pain on Calv’ry’s tree.
Jesus is Lord! From him all life proceeding,
Yet gave his life a ransom thus setting us free.

Jesus is Lord! O’er sin the mighty conqu’ror,
From death he rose and all his foes shall own his name.
Jesus is Lord! God sends his Holy Spirit
To show by works of power that Jesus is Lord.
